Sai Joshi
Sai's professional experience reflects her strong commitment to mitigating emergent social and environmental challenges, and she continues to pursue strategies to address global social, economic, and climate equity gaps.
Joshi is a graduate of Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts (GSD '22) and a recipient of the Dean's Merit Scholarship, an award granted to the highest-ranked admits of the school.
At Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Joshi focused her studies on climate resiliency and mitigation strategies, climate policy, urban policy, and urban planning, and towards student climate leadership programs like the Council of Student Sustainability Leaders at Harvard University.
Today, Joshi works as a City Hall Fellow for the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative - a collaboration for government innovation by Bloomberg Philanthropies and Harvard University. She works at the Office of the Mayor in City of Springfield, IL, as a Planning and Innovation Specialist.
Before the fellowship, Joshi worked at United Nations Human Settlements programme (UN-Habitat) in their global Cities and Climate office in 2021, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Joshi worked toward developing and delivering the Innovate4Cities climate science conference as part of the secretariat. She co-authored a publication: Discussions and Findings from the 2021 Innovate4Cities conference: new insights for the 2018 Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science.
Joshi was one of the ten global scholars selected for the inaugural Energy workshop at the Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid, Spain. The scholarship brought together international experts to explore sustainable solutions for climate change mitigation, the use of energy and resources, and their local and global implications.
Joshi is passionate about education and has served roles as a full-time studio instructor and invited juror on review panels. In 2022, she worked as a full-time Studio Instructor in the Design Discovery Virtual and In-person programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In 2021, Joshi worked as a full-time Studio Instructor for an Architectural Design studio at her alma mater, Sir JJ College of Architecture, Mumbai University, India.
She has been invited globally as a juror on academic review panels, including University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, New York Institute of Technology, and Mumbai University.
Joshi is committed to reducing barriers and facilitating resources for inclusive education. She leads a global career mentorship program for young students and volunteers her time towards teaching programs in developing countries. Read more about the program here.
